Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color and Sound at Corrales Grief Spa

At Corrales Grief Spa at The Oasis in Corrales, New Mexico, Kristy offers Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color and Sound as one of the most distinctive modalities in her practice, combining the ancient technology of vibrational sound with the energy medicine of Reiki and the therapeutic use of color to address grief, stress, and the places in the body where emotional pain takes up residence.

The human body is, in the most literal sense, a resonant system.

Every cell vibrates, and each organ has a frequency. The nervous system responds to sound before the thinking mind has time to process what it has heard, which explains both why a certain piece of music can produce sudden tears and why virtually every human culture since the beginning of recorded history has used sound as a healing instrument.

Much more than a wellness trend, sound is one of the oldest known therapeutic practices, and it is now the subject of a growing body of rigorous peer-reviewed research.

A Practice as Ancient as Human Culture

Sound and vibration have been used as tools for healing and spiritual transformation across millennia and across cultures. Tibetan singing bowls have been used in contemplative and healing practice for centuries, ancient Greek physicians used music to treat mental and physical illness, and indigenous healing traditions worldwide have incorporated chant, drum, and tonal instruments into ceremonies for mourning, restoration, and spiritual passage. The didgeridoo traditions of Aboriginal Australia, the overtone chanting of Mongolian and Tibetan traditions, and the use of bells and gongs in East Asian medicine all reflect a shared human understanding that sound moves through the body in ways that other healing modalities do not.

The contemporary sound healing movement takes these traditions seriously. The Tibetan singing bowl in particular has become one of the most studied instruments in the field, with a systematic review published in a peer-reviewed journal in 2025 identifying 19 clinical studies published between 2008 and 2024, documenting effects on anxiety, pain, sleep, mood, and wellbeing across a range of populations.

What the Research Shows

The most comprehensive peer-reviewed study on singing bowl sound meditation to date was conducted by Dr. Tamara Goldsby and colleagues at the University of California, San Diego, and published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine. The study examined 62 adults who participated in a Tibetan singing bowl meditation session.

Compared to their state before the session, participants reported significantly lower levels of tension, anger, fatigue, and depressed mood following the session. Feelings of spiritual wellbeing increased significantly across all participants. Notably, participants who were new to this type of meditation showed a greater reduction in tension than those with prior experience, which suggests that even someone’s first encounter with sound healing can produce measurable effects.

A 2025 study published in The Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing examined the effects of singing bowl sound on anxiety and physiological symptoms in patients awaiting angiography— a population under significant acute stress. The study found meaningful reductions in anxiety levels and improvements in physiological markers, providing clinical evidence for the use of singing bowl sound in high-stress medical contexts.

The research is still developing, and the field continues to call for larger randomized controlled trials. But it is already clear that sound interventions produce measurable physiological and psychological changes, and that these changes are consistent enough in different contexts to warrant serious attention within integrative health.

How Sound Works in the Body

The mechanism behind sound healing is physiological.

Sound travels through the body as vibration, not just through the ears, but through bones, tissue, and the fluid of the body itself. When particular frequencies are introduced, they interact with the body’s own vibrational patterns. The body’s systems operate at measurable frequencies, and sound, especially the rich, sustained tones of singing bowls and gongs, can influence the state of the autonomic nervous system in ways that shift the body from sympathetic (fight-or-flight) activation toward parasympathetic (rest-and-restore) function.

The stress response activates the HPA axis (the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system), releasing cortisol and adrenaline, increasing heart rate, and tensing muscles. Grief, in particular, can hold the body in a state of sustained stress activation, with the nervous system unable to fully resolve the threat signal. Sound interventions appear to work by engaging the nervous system through the auditory pathway, promoting a physiological downshift that allows the body to move out of that activation state.

This is why sound healing is especially valuable in the context of grief. Grief is held in the body—in the chest, the throat, the shoulders, and the gut. Talk therapy addresses what the mind is processing, while sound addresses what the body is holding. The two are complementary, not competing.

Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color and Sound

At Corrales Grief Spa, Kristy’s offerings go beyond sound healing alone. Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color and Sound integrates three healing modalities into a single, coherent session.

Reiki is a form of energy medicine in which the practitioner works with the body’s energy field to support balance and the flow of vital force. Shamanic Angelic Reiki draws on shamanic healing traditions and the concept of angelic guidance, working at a spiritual as well as energetic level. The integration of color adds another dimension: color therapy, or chromotherapy, works with the understanding that different wavelengths of light carry different vibrational frequencies and can be used therapeutically to support the healing process. And the sound component, including vibrational instruments, bowls, tonal frequencies, works directly through the body as described above.

Together, these modalities create a multisensory healing environment that addresses grief, stress, and trauma at the level where they reside: in the nervous system, the energy body, and the emotional and spiritual dimensions of a person’s experience.

Kristy has spent decades developing her practice. At the Oasis, where she practices, the grounds themselves create a setting that amplifies the work. Sound heals differently in a quiet, peaceful space. Healing deepens when the environment is itself part of the treatment.

Who Sound Healing Is For

Sound healing is gentle, non-invasive, and appropriate for virtually anyone. You do not need prior experience with meditation, healing work, or any particular spiritual framework to benefit from a session. You simply need the willingness to receive.

It is particularly well-suited to people carrying grief, chronic stress, or the physical symptoms that accompany prolonged emotional pain. It is useful in moments of acute loss and in the longer, quieter aftermath that grief sometimes becomes. It is for people who feel they have done a great deal of talking about what they are carrying, and are ready to work with the part of it that lives beyond words.

Sessions at Corrales Grief Spa can be standalone experiences or woven into a broader retreat. They are available both in person at The Oasis and, in some cases, virtually. Reach out to Kristy to discuss what would serve you best.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is sound healing?

Sound healing is the therapeutic use of sound, vibration, and frequency to support physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. It has roots in virtually every major healing tradition in human history and is now the subject of a growing body of peer-reviewed research. At Corrales Grief Spa, sound healing is integrated into the Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color and Sound modality, combining vibrational instruments with energy medicine and color therapy.

What is Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color and Sound?

It is an integrative healing modality that combines Shamanic Angelic Reiki, a form of energy medicine drawing on shamanic traditions and the concept of angelic guidance, with the therapeutic use of color frequencies and vibrational sound instruments. The three elements work together to address grief, stress, and emotional pain at the level of the nervous system, the energy body, and the spirit.

Is there scientific evidence that sound healing works?

Yes, though the field is still developing. A landmark observational study by Goldsby et al. at the University of California, San Diego found significant reductions in tension, anger, fatigue, and depressed mood following singing bowl sound meditation, with improvements in spiritual wellbeing across all participants.

A 2025 review in JMIR Mental Health identified consistent evidence across 34 studies for sound interventions reducing physiological stress markers. A 2024 systematic review identified 19 clinical studies on singing bowl therapy specifically. Researchers continue to call for larger randomized controlled trials.

Do I need to have any experience with meditation or energy healing?

None at all. Sound healing is accessible to anyone who is willing to receive it. First-time participants often report significant effects. In some studies, newcomers to sound meditation showed greater reductions in tension than experienced practitioners.

How do I book a session?

Reach out to Kristy directly to discuss Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color and Sound and whether it is the right fit for where you are. Sessions are offered individually and as part of broader retreat experiences at The Oasis.

Corrales Grief Spa, at The Oasis in New Mexico, offers personalized wellness retreats designed to help friends reconnect.

In 2000, psychologist Shelley E. Taylor and her team at UCLA published a landmark paper in Psychological Review that fundamentally challenged fifty years of stress research. Her work proposed that the dominant model of stress response—fight-or-flight—described male behavior under stress far more accurately than female behavior. Women, they found, responded to stress through a distinctly different pattern: tend-and-befriend.

Taylor’s team described two interlocking responses. The first involves protective, nurturing behavior directed toward the self and others when facing a threat. The second involves actively seeking out and strengthening social bonds—the drive to gather and be near others. The research found that oxytocin mediates both responses.

The result is a stress response that, in women, is biologically oriented toward connection. When stress rises, the female body defaults to the urge to reach toward other women.

Taylor’s 2006 follow-up paper in Current Directions in Psychological Science elaborated on the mechanism: positive connection under stress causes oxytocin to attenuate the body’s stress responses, dampening sympathetic nervous system activation and calming the HPA axis, the same system implicated in chronic stress and its downstream effects on the immune system, digestion, and sleep. In plain terms: being with women you trust, particularly when you are under stress, physically calms the body at a biological level.

The Longevity Research

The research on female friendship and health outcomes doesn’t stop at stress regulation. It extends to some of the most significant health outcomes researchers study.

A meta-analysis published in PLOS Medicine by Julianne Holt-Lunstad and colleagues at Brigham Young University found that individuals with adequate social relationships had a 50% greater likelihood of survival compared to those with poor or insufficient social relationships. The researchers noted that this effect was comparable in magnitude to well-established mortality risk factors, including smoking.

A separate longitudinal study examining social integration and longevity in women found that the depth and breadth of meaningful social connection was associated with significantly better long-term health outcomes.

This is not about having a lot of acquaintances, but about the particular, irreplaceable quality of being genuinely known by other women.

Why Life Pulls Women Apart

If the research is this clear, and the need is this biological, why do so many women find themselves, at a certain point in life, isolated from the friendships that once felt central to who they were?

The answer is not a mystery—careers accelerate, children arrive, and relationships shift. Grief takes up residence. Women who reach their forties, fifties, and sixties often describe a particular kind of grief around friendship—not the loss of a specific person, but the gradual erosion of the closeness they once had with women who still exist in the world, who still matter, but who have drifted to the edge of a life too full to hold them close.

This too is a form of loss worth naming, tending, and, when possible, reversing.

Group Retreats at Corrales Grief Spa

A group retreat at The Oasis is built around the same understanding that shapes everything Kristy does: that healing happens in relationships, that the nervous system softens in the presence of safe others, and that some things simply cannot be done alone.

Retreats can be tailored for small groups, offered as day retreats, overnight experiences, or multi-day stays. They are appropriate for friend groups seeking to reconnect, for groups of women navigating a shared loss or transition, or for women who simply know they need each other and are ready to make space for that.

What the group brings and what they need shape each retreat. Kristy offers her presence, her thirty years of experience, and access to the full range of healing modalities at The Oasis, including Reiki, sound healing, guided visual imagery, expressive art, the Reflections Room, breathwork, yoga nidra, and the Bosque itself. There will be food, thoughtfully prepared, and space for silence and space for laughter.

The Friends Who Need Each Other

If you are reading this and feeling the pull of the woman you once talked to every week, the friend you keep meaning to call, or the group that hasn’t gathered in longer than any of you care to admit, that pull is worth following.

The research is clear. The body knows it. The only question is whether you’ll make room.

Reach out to Kristy to begin a conversation about what a group retreat at The Oasis might look like for you and the women who matter.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a group retreat at Corrales Grief Spa?

A group retreat is a tailored healing experience for small groups of women, held at The Oasis at Corrales Grief Spa in Corrales, New Mexico. Retreats are available as half-day, full-day, overnight, or multi-day experiences, and are shaped around what the group needs. They can be focused on reconnection, shared grief or loss, life transition, or simply the restoration of friendships that deserve more time and space.

Do we need to be grieving to attend a group retreat?

No. Group retreats are for any gathering of women who want to come together with intention—whether that’s to reconnect, mark a life transition together, support a member of the group through a loss, or simply rest and restore in each other’s company. Kristy will work with your group to design an experience that fits where you are.

What modalities are available during a group retreat?

Kristy offers access to the full range of healing offerings at The Oasis, including Shamanic Angelic Reiki, guided visual imagery, expressive art, sound healing, breathwork, yoga nidra, the Reflections Room, and the MARI Card Test.

Can our group stay overnight at The Oasis?

Yes. The Oasis offers two beautifully appointed private suites—the O’Waken Oasis (1,350 square feet) and the Bosque Oasis (600 square feet, with direct Rio Grande Bosque views)—both available for extended stays. For groups who want an immersive multi-day experience, overnight accommodation is available.

How do we begin planning a group retreat?

Reach out to Kristy directly to start the conversation. She will talk through your group’s situation, size, and needs, and work with you to design an experience that feels right.

The Healing Is Available When You’re Ready for It

What sets The Oasis apart from any other private accommodation is not simply the suite itself, but what exists alongside it.

Kristy, your host and the founder of Corrales Grief Spa, brings over thirty years of holistic healing experience to her work. When you’re ready, entirely on your timeline, she offers access to a range of transformative healing modalities that are rarely available outside specialized clinical settings.

The Reflections Room: a modern reimagining of the ancient psychomanteum, developed under Kristy’s direct mentorship with Dr. Raymond Moody, the pioneering near-death researcher who brought this practice into contemporary therapeutic use. It offers a quality of stillness that productivity tools, standard vacations, and conventional therapy cannot typically reach.

Ericksonian Clinical Hypnotherapy, Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color Infusion and Sound, guided visual imagery, the MARI Card Test, expressive art, yoga nidra, breathwork, sage support, each one working at the level where executive exhaustion lives: in the body, the nervous system, and the unconscious patterns that no strategic thinking can resolve.

Corrales, New Mexico: The Setting Itself Is Therapy

The village of Corrales runs along a stretch of the Rio Grande Bosque that has drawn people seeking beauty, quiet, and renewal for generations. The Bosque Oasis sits directly on it.

Approximately 2.5 miles from the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Park, and minutes from shops, galleries, restaurants, breweries, and wineries, Corrales offers the rare combination of genuine natural solitude and easy access to everything you might want when you surface. The most effective burnout recovery retreats combine nature immersion, distance from daily demands, and structured wellness support as a single unified environment. Here, the Bosque handles the first. Kristy handles the rest.

Who This Is For

The Bosque Oasis is for the executive who needs something smaller, more contained, and more complete than a resort. For the founder who wants to be close to the water and far from the noise. For the leader who travels alone, needs to think, and deserves to rest deeply while doing it.

It is also for anyone at a threshold, whether a decision, a transition, a season of change, who needs a warm, private, beautiful place to remember what they actually want.

The Bosque is waiting just outside your door.

That is the share of executives and employees currently at risk of burnout, according to a 2024 Global Talent Trends report, conducted by Mercer, involving 12,000 participants conducted by Mercer. If you’re in the C-suite, the data is stark—over 53% of leaders report chronic burnout symptoms, according to Microsoft’s Work Trend research. Burnout makes executives 63% more likely to take a sick day, and 13% less confident in your own performance. Your well-being and quality of life—as well as the clarity your organization depends on—quietly erodes as burnout goes unaddressed.

Perhaps you already know this, and you feel it.

You’re not looking for a massage. You’re looking for nervous system relief, genuine mental clarity, and real distance from the demands that seem to follow you everywhere you go. The question isn’t whether you need a retreat. It’s whether you can find one that actually delivers.

A Different Kind of Executive Retreat

The O’Waken Oasis at The Oasis Spiritual Spa and Executive Retreat in Corrales, New Mexico offers something most high-end wellness resorts cannot: genuine solitude, total privacy, unhurried personal care, and access to a caliber of holistic healing that is exceptionally rare, all within a single gated estate bordering the Rio Grande Bosque.

This is not a branded resort experience with group programming and shared spaces. It is a private, 1,350-square-foot luxury suite—rated 5.0 on Airbnb, named a Guest Favorite, and ranked in the top 10% of homes on the platform—on a park-like property that sits at the end of a cul-de-sac in one of Corrales’s finest neighborhoods. The property is gated. Your parking is private. A large buffer room separates your suite from the main house, and you have your own private entrance.

You can arrive and not speak to a single person. Or host Kristy can cook for you, care for you, and support you. An experienced healer, host, and Airbnb Superhost with five years of five-star hosting, Kristy’s warmth and responsiveness consistently makes guests’ stays extraordinary.

The Space

The O’Waken Oasis Suite is a world unto itself—extravagantly appointed, sensory and soulful, with enough room to breathe and enough comfort to fully release.

Inside, you’ll find:

A 9-foot by 5-foot cinematic projection screen for the evenings you need to stop thinking entirely

A cozy fireplace for the evenings you want to feel something quieter

A queen-size four-post Indian bed and a full-size four-post Chinese bed—sumptuous, storied, genuinely restorative

A massage chair, a pool table, and a disco ball—because joy is part of recovery too

A fully equipped kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, and washer/dryer

A dedicated home office workspace—for the days you need to stay connected

A modern bathroom with plush, oversized towels

Outdoor dining for six and indoor dining for four, plus two barstools

Sofa seating for eight

Steps from the front door, the Rio Grande Bosque trail invites you into one of the rarest ecological environments in the American Southwest. Morning meditations, long walks, or simply sitting with the cottonwoods and the river allow your nervous system to remember what ease feels like.

The Healing Is Available When You’re Ready for It

What distinguishes The Oasis from any other luxury accommodation is what lives alongside it.

Kristy, your host and the founder of Corrales Grief Spa, brings over thirty years of holistic healing experience to her work. When you’re ready, she offers access to a range of transformative modalities that are rarely available outside of specialized clinical settings.

The Reflections Room: a modern reimagining of the ancient psychomanteum, built on a practice Kristy developed under the direct mentorship of Dr. Raymond Moody, the pioneering near-death researcher who brought this healing space into contemporary use. It offers a quality of stillness and inner reflection that productivity apps, typical vacations, and conventional therapy cannot typically reach.

Ericksonian Clinical Hypnotherapy, guided visual imagery, Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color Infusion and Sound, the MARI Card Test, expressive art, yoga nidra, breathwork, sage support—each one works at the level where executive exhaustion actually lives: in the nervous system, the body, the unconscious patterns that no amount of strategic thinking can resolve.

You came here to rest. You can leave transformed.

Corrales, New Mexico: The Setting Itself Is Therapy

The village of Corrales sits at the south end of a stretch of the Rio Grande Bosque that has drawn people seeking beauty, quiet, and renewal for generations. It is approximately 2.5 miles from the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Park, minutes from shops, restaurants, breweries, and wineries, and a world away from the demands of everyday life.

The most effective burnout recovery retreats combine nature immersion, distance from daily stress, and structured wellness programming as a single unified environment. The Oasis delivers exactly this, without the jet lag of an international trip or the group-retreat dynamics that can become another obligation to manage.

Who This Is For

The O’Waken Oasis is for the founder who hasn’t had a week to themselves in three years, the CEO whose body is sending signals their calendar has no room for, and the executive who has been the one holding everything and needs, finally, to be held for a while.

It is also for anyone standing at a threshold, whether a major decision, life transition, or season of change—who needs space to think, feel, and find their way back to themselves.

The suite accommodates up to two guests and holds a perfect 5.0 rating across all guest categories on Airbnb.

The MARI Card Test at Corrales Grief Spa takes a different approach: it asks your unconscious to show up and speak for itself.

That distinction matters more than it might seem, especially when you’re navigating loss, transition, or uncertainty about who you are on the other side of something that changed you.

What is the MARI card test?

The Mandala Assessment Research Instrument, MARI, is a nonverbal psychological assessment developed by art therapist Joan Kellogg beginning in the 1970s at the University of Maryland, where she worked alongside some of the most significant figures in transpersonal psychology research, including Dr. Stanislav Grof. Kellogg refined the instrument over decades and formally established it as the MARI Card Test in 1984, with the final revision completed in 1993.

The assessment includes 39 symbol cards and 45 color cards. The symbol cards are displayed first in random order, and the person is asked to choose six symbol cards they are most attracted to, one they are least attracted to. They are then asked to choose colors that correspond to the symbols they selected.

What makes this remarkable is what happens with that information. When displayed on the developmental template of the Great Round, which is Kellogg’s framework of 13 archetypal stages of psychological development, the symbols and colors chosen intuitively reveal a visual picture of one’s psyche. The choices aren’t random. Symbols predate culture, language, and even the concept of time. They are so much a part of us that we respond to them intuitively and often on an other-than-conscious level.

The MARI Assessment and the Drawn Mandala are innovative, creative, and expressive tools that provide diagnostic information and can also be used to reinforce and track client progress. These tools have been used by mental health practitioners, personal and business coaches, art therapists, and music therapists for over 30 years.

A peer-reviewed study published in the journal Arts in Psychotherapy compared MARI Card Test results across cardiac and cancer inpatient populations, demonstrating its utility as a clinical instrument across a range of health and emotional conditions. Kellogg’s foundational 1977 paper in the American Journal of Art Therapy, co-authored with Mac Rae, Bonny, and DiLeo, laid the research groundwork that practitioners have built on ever since.

The assessment is not therapy in the traditional sense. It is a process using both left and right brain thinking, with the client as the guide in leading the discovery. It accesses what talk therapy often cannot—the information that lies beneath verbal processing, in image and symbol and the gut-level pull of a card you couldn’t explain but couldn’t put down.

Why It’s Especially Powerful During Times of Loss and Transition

Grief and transition share a common quality that makes them both fascinating and exhausting: they strip away the stories we’ve told about ourselves and leave us standing in territory we don’t have a map for yet.

Words can feel inadequate during those moments, not because we lack intelligence or self-awareness, but because what’s happening in us is genuinely pre-verbal. The loss of a spouse, the end of a marriage, a diagnosis, a death, a shifting identity—these experiences register in the body and psyche at a level that conversation alone rarely reaches.

This is precisely where the MARI Card Test earns its place. The MARI is an excellent therapeutic tool that maps the present state of the psyche and gives the subject a direction that will lead to movement, evolution, integration, illumination, and transformation—a true alchemy of the soul. During periods of transition, that kind of mapping can be a compass.

The assessment doesn’t tell you what to do. It reflects back what your own unconscious is already working with, including the themes that arise, the challenges you’re processing, and the opportunities that form beneath the surface of conscious awareness. For someone in the middle of figuring out what comes next, this kind of unfiltered reflection can be quietly staggering.

What Clients at Corrales Grief Spa Have Experienced

Clients who have worked with the MARI Card Test during sessions at Corrales Grief Spa have reported experiences that go beyond what they anticipated from a card-based assessment.

One client notes an increase in lucid dreaming following their sessions—a phenomenon that aligns with what practitioners have long observed: when unconscious material is brought into conscious awareness through symbol work, the psyche often becomes more active and communicative through the dream state. The dialogue, once opened, doesn’t close when you leave the room.

Others have described a clarity around the patterns and themes arising in their lives—challenges that had felt confusing or overwhelming became identifiable, even nameable, through the images they were drawn to. That naming alone can shift your understanding. When you can see the shape of what you’re carrying, you begin to know where to put it down.

Perhaps most consistently, clients describe a deepened trust in their own intuitive knowing. The MARI Card Test doesn’t reward the thinking mind; it rewards the part of you that already knows. Clients who feel cut off from that intuitive knowledge by grief, shock, or the sheer cognitive load of navigating loss often find it through symbol work in ways that talking simply doesn’t reach.

Coming to It in the Right Moment

The MARI Card Test is available as part of Kristy’s practice at Corrales Grief Spa at The Oasis, offered during individual sessions or as part of a broader retreat experience. It is particularly well-suited to moments of transition: following a loss, at the close of a relationship, when standing at a professional or personal crossroads, or simply when something has shifted and you’re not yet sure what it’s pointing toward.

The assessment is non-invasive, requires no prior knowledge or artistic ability, and takes approximately an hour to complete. The interpretation that follows is where the real conversation begins.

Frequently Asked Questions About the MARI Card Test

What is the MARI Card Test?

The MARI Card Test — formally the Mandala Assessment Research Instrument — is a nonverbal psychological assessment developed by art therapist Joan Kellogg in the 1970s. It uses 39 symbol cards and 45 color cards, chosen intuitively, to create a visual map of a person’s current psychological state, developmental stage, and areas of conscious and unconscious focus.

Do I need any artistic ability or psychological background to benefit from it?

None at all. The assessment is entirely intuitive. Simply choose what you’re drawn to, not what you think is correct. There are no right or wrong answers, and no prior knowledge of psychology or art is required. The process is genuinely accessible and often described as surprisingly natural.

Is the MARI Card Test evidence-based?

It is grounded in decades of clinical research and Jungian psychological theory. Joan Kellogg’s foundational research was published in peer-reviewed journals including the American Journal of Art Therapy, and subsequent studies have examined its applications across clinical populations. It has been used by mental health practitioners, art therapists, music therapists, and coaches for over thirty years.

How does it differ from other assessments like tarot or personality tests?

The MARI Card Test is a psychological instrument rooted in transpersonal and Jungian theory, not divination. It differs from personality assessments like Myers-Briggs in that it accesses nonverbal, unconscious material through image and symbol rather than asking you to self-report through language. It is more accurately understood as a form of non-verbal psychological mapping than either a personality test or a spiritual reading, though its depth often feels like both.

Can it be done virtually?

Yes. Kristy offers the MARI Card Test both in person at Corrales Grief Spa near Albuquerque, NM, and virtually, making it accessible regardless of location.

How do I book a session?

Reach out to Kristy directly to discuss whether the MARI Card Test is the right tool for where you are right now. She’ll talk you through the process and help you determine the best context — standalone session, extended retreat, or as part of an ongoing series — for your specific situation.

You know the feeling. You wake at 3 a.m. with your heart racing. You sit through a meeting without tracking a single word. Exhausted beyond what a single night’s sleep repairs, you brace for something difficult to name, carrying a physical weight that no one else seems to see.

Far from weakness or “being in your head,” this is your nervous system doing exactly what it was designed to do, and getting stuck there.

Understanding what grief does to the nervous system changes how we approach healing.

Grief Activates the Threat Response

The autonomic nervous system governs the body’s involuntary functions, such as heart rate, breathing, digestion, hormonal regulation, and its responses to perceived threat. When the body encounters grief, it activates the same threat response it uses in the face of physical danger.

The amygdala, which is the brain’s alarm system, transmits distress signals to the hypothalamus, which activates the autonomic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system takes over, releasing adrenaline and cortisol. The body prepares to fight, flee, or freeze. As the heart rate rises, muscles tense, digestion slows, and breathing becomes more shallow.

The problem is that grief does not resolve the way a physical threat does. A predator either catches you or it doesn’t. Grief remains. The threat response sometimes activates, and stays activated, for months or years.

The nervous system is doing exactly what it was designed to do. But understanding this mechanism is the first step toward helping it find its way back.

Three Nervous System States, and Where Grief Puts You

Polyvagal Theory, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, offers a neurobiological framework that has become central to understanding trauma and grief. According to this model, the autonomic nervous system operates through three primary states, each associated with a distinct set of physiological and psychological experiences.

The ventral vagal state is associated with safety, social engagement, and connection. In this state, the body feels at ease. People can think clearly, connect with others, and experience genuine rest. This is the state in which healing is possible.

The sympathetic state is associated with fight or flight. The body is mobilized, vigilant, and on high alert. For many grieving people, this shows up as anxiety, racing thoughts, irritability, trouble settling, and the sleeplessness that becomes its own particular torment.

The dorsal vagal state is associated with shutdown and freeze, which is the body’s response to overwhelming or inescapable threat. This is the grief that looks like numbness, collapse, disconnection, or an inability to feel anything at all.

Many grieving people find themselves moving between the sympathetic and dorsal vagal states. The path toward healing runs through the ventral vagal state, toward feeling safety, ease, and connection. The nervous system does not return to that state through willpower or cognitive effort alone, but through the body.

The HPA Axis and the Cortisol Flood

The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, or the HPA axis, is the body’s central stress regulation system. In grief, it activates and often stays activated.

Cortisol, the body’s primary stress hormone, serves important protective functions in the short term. When chronically elevated, it becomes destructive. Research has consistently documented the downstream effects: dysregulated cortisol patterns, immune suppression, cardiovascular stress, disrupted sleep, and cognitive difficulties.

The Freeze Response and the Grieving Body

Frequently misunderstood, the freeze response in the context of grief deserves attention. When the nervous system encounters a threat that feels inescapable, and grief is precisely that, it may shift into freeze. As the body becomes still and energy collapses inward, emotions tend to become muted or inaccessible. The person may appear fine from the outside while experiencing a profound disconnection on the inside.

This is not depression, though it can look like it, nor is it denial. It is the nervous system deploying one of its most sophisticated protective strategies—a pause button, held down indefinitely because the threat goes unresolved.

The freeze response involves being constantly on guard, watchful, and alert at a subconscious level, even when the surface appears calm. The body remains in a kind of suspended animation, waiting for a signal that it is safe to return. That signal comes through experience, through skillfully and gently guiding the body toward safety.

Why the Nervous System Cannot Think Its Way Out

The nervous system does not respond primarily to cognitive interventions. Vagal safety often involves more than talking or thinking yourself through it.
The nervous system communicates through sensation, breath, movement, sound, touch, and feeling safe in relationship with others. Effective healing addresses the nervous system in its own language—the body’s language, not the mind’s.

A 2025 paper published in Healthcare explored body-based interventions that cultivate interoceptive awareness, or the capacity to notice sensations that arise from the body. The World Health Organization has called for innovative strategies that extend beyond traditional cognitive approaches, and biologically based methods are gaining recognition for their significant role in regulating emotions and promoting wellness.

What Body-Based Healing Does

Kristy has built her healing practice at Corrales Grief Spa on this understanding. Every modality she offers works with the nervous system directly as she invites it toward regulation and creates the conditions in which genuine healing becomes possible.

Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color Infusion and Sound works at the level of the nervous system and the energy body. The combination of hands-on energy work, breath visualization, and sound bath immersion activates the parasympathetic nervous system and helps quiet the chronic sympathetic activation that grief sustains.

Sound Healing works through vibrational frequencies that the nervous system registers directly, producing measurable reductions in cortisol and heart rate. O’Waken Yoga and Breathwork engage the body through movement and breath, two of the most direct pathways to nervous system regulation, activating the vagus nerve and shifting the body toward parasympathetic dominance.

Guided Visual Imagery and Yoga Nidra guide the nervous system through carefully constructed landscapes of safety and rest. Ericksonian Clinical Hypnotherapy reaches into the unconscious to address the deeper patterns keeping the nervous system locked in grief’s stress response. Expressive Art and Mandalas give the nervous system a way to externalize what it holds while moving energy through pathways that language cannot always reach.

None of these is a shortcut through grief. They are invitations, to the nervous system, to the body, and to the whole person, to remember that safety is still possible. That is where healing begins.

Frequently Asked Questions: The Nervous System, Grief, and Healing Near Albuquerque

Why does grief feel so physical and not just emotional?

Because grief activates the body’s full threat response. The amygdala registers loss as danger, triggering the sympathetic nervous system and flooding the body with cortisol and adrenaline. The result is a cascade of physical symptoms, including a tight chest, sleep disruption, digestive changes, immune suppression, and fatigue, that are genuine physiological responses.

What is the autonomic nervous system, and why does it matter for grief?

The autonomic nervous system manages the body’s involuntary functions and its responses to threat. In grief, it often becomes stuck in sympathetic activation (hypervigilance, anxiety, and sleeplessness) or dorsal vagal shutdown (numbness, collapse, and disconnection). Both states suppress healing. Body-based healing modalities work to bring the nervous system back toward the ventral vagal state—toward safety, ease, and connection—which is where genuine recovery begins.

What is the freeze response in grief?

The freeze response is one of the nervous system’s protective strategies when a threat feels inescapable. In grief, it can show up as numbness, emotional flatness, disconnection, or an inability to feel. It is not depression, though it resembles it. It is the nervous system holding its breath, waiting for a signal that it is safe to return. That signal comes through body-based experience, not through thinking.

Why doesn’t talking about grief always feel like enough?

Because grief is held in the body’s nervous system, not only in cognitive memory. The nervous system does not respond primarily to verbal or cognitive interventions. It responds to sensation, breath, movement, sound, and the felt experience of safety — all of which body-based healing modalities address directly.

What is Reiki Albuquerque — and how does it support nervous system healing?

What is a wellness retreat, and how does it support nervous system regulation?

Many people arrive at hypnotherapy with at least one misconception—for example, that they will be made to surrender their will or fall into a helpless sleep. Kristy sets all of that aside. What she offers instead is something far more profound, and far more personal: a doorway into the part of you that already knows how to heal.

As a certified Ericksonian Clinical Hypnotherapist practicing near Albuquerque at Corrales Grief Spa, Kristy uses guided imagery and carefully crafted suggestions to help clients manage difficult emotions, quiet the storms of grief, and restore the deep, restful sleep that loss and stress so often steal away.

“Our thoughts create our emotions,” she explains, “and our emotions are manifested in our bodies.” This is the foundational truth that guides every session. The mind and body are not separate territories. They are one continuous conversation, and hypnotherapy is one of the most elegant ways to change the nature of that conversation.

Going Beneath the Surface

A hypnotherapy session with Kristy will guide you into a state of focused relaxation in which the conscious mind gives way to your deeper, unconscious self.

She may invite you into a landscape of imagery: a safe place, a meadow, a light. She may offer suggestions that your body begin to soften, that your breath slow, that you release the weight you have been carrying, even slightly. For clients struggling with sleep, she works specifically with the language of the body at rest, helping the mind understand that it is safe to release the day, to settle, and to drift toward the deep healing that sleep provides.

For grief, the central current that runs through everything at Corrales Grief Spa, hypnotherapy offers something that talk therapy alone sometimes cannot reach. Grief lives in the body. It catches in the throat. It tightens across the chest. It arrives uninvited at 3 a.m. Hypnotherapy allows Kristy to speak directly to the nervous system, to the unconscious patterns that keep grief locked in place, and to gently invite new possibilities for the body to experience release and ease.

Far from bypassing grief, this practice meets grief in the body with compassion, skilled presence, and with the gentle power of suggestion.

What Is Ericksonian Hypnotherapy?

The approach Kristy uses is rooted in the groundbreaking work of Milton H. Erickson, M.D., who is widely regarded as the most influential hypnotherapist of the twentieth century. Erickson, who lived with significant physical limitations himself, developed a radically different model of hypnosis built but on collaboration, not command.

Where traditional hypnosis relied on direct, authoritative suggestion, Ericksonian hypnotherapy works indirectly, through metaphor, storytelling, and language that is carefully shaped to meet the unique inner world of each individual client. The assumption is that the client’s own unconscious already holds the resources for healing, and that the therapist’s role is to create the conditions in which those resources can be accessed.

This philosophy resonated deeply with Kristy, whose entire practice is built on a similar premise: that every person who walks through the doors of Corrales Grief Spa already carries within them what they need to heal. Her work is not to fix, but to witness, and in the case of hypnotherapy, to guide.

What the Research Shows

The science behind hypnotherapy has grown substantially in recent years, and the findings are meaningful.

A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated eight randomized controlled trials covering 676 participants across a range of conditions including acute pain, depression, grief, and anxiety. Ericksonian hypnotherapy interventions consistently produced significant symptom reductions compared to waitlist or standard care. Notably, some trials suggested that the indirect and personalized nature of Ericksonian hypnotherapy may confer particular advantages in areas that are central to Kristy’s work, like grief and hypervigilance.

These findings align with what Kristy’s clients experience: a quieting of the mind, a softening of the body’s vigilance, and a deepening of rest.

As with all complementary therapies, hypnotherapy works best alongside any medical or psychological care you are already receiving. Hypnotherapy opens a door and invites you to walk through it.

Hypnotherapy and Grief: Meeting the Body Where It Lives

Grief has a way of taking up residence in places words cannot reach. It is a physiological state as well as a feeling. The nervous system of a grieving person is often running on high alert, scanning for danger, braced against the next wave.

Hypnotherapy works at precisely this level. By guiding the nervous system toward a state of deep relaxation, it creates conditions that allow emotional processing to happen more gently, more organically, and sometimes more completely than it might in an ordinary waking state.

Kristy has worked with individuals navigating the loss of a spouse, a child, a parent, a marriage, and an identity. She has sat with caregivers exhausted by the weight of loving someone through their dying.

In all of these cases, hypnotherapy offers the same essential gift: a moment of genuine rest. A breath of space within the grief. Not the end of the sorrow — but a reminder that the body is still capable of ease.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnotherapy Near Albuquerque

What does hypnotherapy actually feel like? Will I be unconscious?

No. Throughout the session, you will be aware of Kristy’s voice, the room, and yourself. Hypnosis is not sleep or unconsciousness. It is a state of focused, relaxed attention in which the mind becomes more receptive to suggestion. Many people describe it as feeling similar to the moments just before sleep. Some describe a pleasant heaviness, a sense of warmth, or a floating quality. You will remember the session when it is over.

Can I be made to do or say something I don’t want to?

No. This is one of the most persistent myths about hypnotherapy. A clinician cannot make you act against your values, reveal information you want to keep private, or do anything that contradicts your own wishes. Hypnotherapy is collaborative. You remain in control throughout, and if at any moment you want to simply open your eyes and stop, you can.

What if I can’t be hypnotized?

Most people can experience a useful hypnotic state. What varies is the depth of the experience. Ericksonian hypnotherapy is specifically designed to work with each person’s unique responsiveness — it does not rely on deep trance states to be effective. What is most important is a genuine willingness to participate and a degree of trust in the process. Even people who consider themselves “analytical” or “skeptical” often find that they can access a useful state with a gentle, individualized approach.

Is hypnotherapy the same as meditation?

They share some qualities, both involve relaxed, focused attention, but they are distinct practices. Meditation typically involves the practitioner guiding their own attention, often toward awareness itself. Hypnotherapy involves a therapist guiding the client’s attention using specific suggestions tailored to therapeutic goals. The outcomes can overlap, particularly around stress reduction and emotional regulation, but the mechanisms and purposes differ.

What can hypnotherapy help with at Corrales Grief Spa?

Kristy uses hypnotherapy to support clients with emotional regulation, grief processing, sleep difficulties, anxiety, and the physical manifestations of stress and loss. She draws on her clinical training to tailor suggestions specifically to what each individual is carrying, so no two sessions are identical. Hypnotherapy is one thread in a rich tapestry of healing modalities available at Corrales Grief Spa, and it can be offered as a standalone session or woven into a broader course of care.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no single answer. Some people experience significant shifts in a single session. Others benefit from a series of sessions as part of ongoing support. Kristy will discuss your goals and intentions with you and help you find an approach that serves you well. Because hypnotherapy is cumulative, and each session builds on the last, many people choose to return regularly as part of their healing practice.

Is hypnotherapy safe alongside other medical or therapeutic care?

Yes. Hypnotherapy is a complementary practice, designed to work alongside other forms of care rather than replace them. It is not a substitute for medical treatment, psychiatric care, or psychotherapy. Kristy welcomes knowledge of any other care you are receiving and will honor the full picture of your healing. If you have questions about whether hypnotherapy is appropriate for your specific situation, she will always speak honestly with you about what she can and cannot offer.

Is Corrales Grief Spa near Albuquerque?

Yes, Corrales Grief Spa is nestled in the village of Corrales, New Mexico, directly north of Albuquerque along the Rio Grande. It is easily accessible from Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and the greater metropolitan area, and offers a sanctuary-like setting that is, in every sense, a world away from the pace of the city.

If something in this has spoken to a part of you that has been waiting to be heard, Kristy would be honored to sit with you in a hypnotherapy session at Corrales Grief Spa.

When someone tells you grief lives in the body, they are not speaking metaphorically.

The tightness in the chest that arrives without warning—and the exhaustion you can’t seem to shake. The ache that moves through the joints. The sleep that will not come, or that arrives in fragments and leaves you feeling depleted.

None of this is imaginary. None of it is “just stress.” These are documented, measurable physiological changes, and research is increasingly clear that healing grief requires addressing the body as directly as it addresses the mind.

Every healing modality at Corrales Grief Spa speaks to the body as well as the spirit, because in Kristy’s three decades of experience, she has learned what the research now confirms: grief lives in the body, and healing has to go there too.

Grief Is a Full-Body Stress Event

The reason grief affects the body so profoundly is rooted in co-regulation. We co-regulate with our loved ones. Our nervous systems attune to theirs, our physiological rhythms synchronize with theirs over time. When that person is gone, the body experiences a kind of disruption at the cellular level. The nervous system searches for a signal that is no longer there.

Research from the University of Arizona and other institutions has confirmed that inflammation increases following the death of a loved one. A study published in Psychoneuroendocrinology found that people experiencing intense grief showed significantly higher levels of inflammation compared to those with less severe grief.

This systemic inflammation can affect the immune system and manifests differently depending on a person’s existing health conditions, such as worsening joint pain in someone with arthritis, increasing breathing difficulties in someone with asthma, or raising cardiovascular risk across the board.

A 2025 systematic review published in PMC found reliable scientific evidence that prolonged grief is associated with poorer physical health and a higher risk of somatization (the expression of psychological distress through physical symptoms).

What Grief Does to the Immune System

The immune system takes a blow during bereavement. While experiencing prolonged stress, the body releases excessive amounts of cortisol, which suppresses immune function by reducing the production of lymphocytes, the white blood cells that fight infection.

Grief, in the most literal biological sense, can make you sick. Understanding this changes the way we think about grief support. Addressing only the emotional experience of loss is not sufficient. The body needs care, too.

The Heart Under Grief

The cardiovascular system responds to grief with measurable physiological changes that go well beyond the metaphorical broken heart.

Blood pressure rises during waves of grief. Bereavement research has consistently documented increases in catecholamines, including epinephrine and norepinephrine, which elevate heart rate and increase blood clotting risk.

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, often called “broken heart syndrome,” is a condition caused by acute emotional stress that can be triggered by the death of a loved one. Its symptoms closely mimic those of a heart attack: chest pain, shortness of breath, and electrocardiographic changes. The coronary arteries remain clear, but the heart muscle itself is temporarily weakened. Most people recover, but the condition illustrates with clinical precision just how directly emotional loss registers as physical crisis.

Sleep, Appetite, and the Body’s Basic Functions

Grief disrupts the body’s most fundamental regulatory functions, sleep and appetite, and the disruption compounds over time.

Sleep problems are among the most common physical effects of grief. Grief’s activation of the sympathetic nervous system keeps the body in a state of hypervigilance. Racing thoughts, fragmented sleep, and early morning waking can result. Insomnia prevents the body from experiencing the restorative functions of sleep, including cellular repair, immune reconstitution, and emotional processing that happens during REM cycles.

Appetite changes are equally common and equally physiological. Cortisol and other stress hormones directly affect the hormones that regulate hunger. Some people cannot eat. Others eat without appetite or recognition of satiety. Digestive problems, headaches, physical tension, chronic pain, and a general heaviness throughout the body are all documented physical manifestations of grief.

Why Talk Alone Is Not Enough

None of the physical effects of grief respond primarily to verbal processing.

Modern somatic research has established clearly that trauma and grief are held in the body’s nervous system rather than solely in cognitive memory. The World Health Organization has increasingly emphasized the importance of integrated, body-based approaches to mental health and wellness, recognizing that cognitive interventions alone do not address the full spectrum of human experience.

How Corrales Grief Spa Meets the Body in Grief

Every offering at Corrales Grief Spa addresses the body as a primary site of healing, not an afterthought.

Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color Infusion and Sound works at the level of the energy body and the nervous system simultaneously. The hands-on work, combined with color visualization, breath, and sound bath immersion, invites the nervous system toward deep relaxation and ease.

Sound Healing uses vibrational frequencies that the body registers directly, reducing cortisol, lowering heart rate, and inviting the nervous system toward ease. O’Waken Yoga, Meditation, and Breathwork address the body through movement and breath—two of the most direct pathways to nervous system regulation.

Guided Visual Imagery and Yoga Nidra guide the body through deep states of rest. Aroma Touch uses therapeutic-grade DoTerra essential oils combined with intentional touch, engaging the limbic system to support emotional release and nervous system regulation. Ericksonian Clinical Hypnotherapy reaches into the unconscious to address the patterns that keep the body locked in grief’s stress response.

Expressive Art and Mandalas give the body a way to externalize what it holds. Plant Based Nutrition nourishes the physical body directly, supporting the immune system, the gut microbiome, and the hormonal environment that grief so disrupts.

Frequently Asked Questions: Grief, the Body, and Physical Healing Near Albuquerque

Why does grief cause physical symptoms?

Grief activates the body’s full stress response, flooding it with cortisol and adrenaline, suppressing the immune system, elevating cardiovascular risk, and disrupting sleep and appetite regulation. These are documented physiological changes, not psychological ones, and they require physical care alongside emotional support.

Can grief actually make you sick?

Yes. Research has shown that grieving people have suppressed immune function, lower natural killer cell activity, higher inflammatory markers, and reduced antibody response to vaccines. The body under grief is genuinely more vulnerable to illness and infection.

Why isn’t talk therapy always enough for grief?

Because grief is held in the body’s nervous system, not only in cognitive memory. The immune system, the cardiovascular system, and the nervous system do not only regulate through verbal processing. They respond to sensation, breath, movement, sound, touch, and feeling safe, all of which body-based healing addresses directly.

What is Reiki, and how does it help the grieving body?

Reiki is a hands-on energy healing practice that works with the nervous system and the energy body to promote deep relaxation and restore balance. At Corrales Grief Spa, near Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kristy offers Shamanic Angelic Reiki with Color Infusion and Sound—a uniquely immersive, multisensory experience designed to address the body’s grief response on multiple levels.

What does a wellness retreat offer that an individual therapy session doesn’t?

A wellness retreat offers time, immersion, and a holistic environment designed to support the body’s healing. At Corrales Grief Spa, a wellness retreat near Albuquerque, guests have access to the full range of Kristy’s healing modalities, beautifully appointed lodgings, and the restorative environment of the Rio Grande Bosque. Stays range from a single session to up to a year, allowing the body the time it actually needs to heal.

How do I know which modalities are right for my body?

You don’t need to know. Kristy will listen to where you are physically, emotionally, and energetically, and help you find the right footing. Tell her what your body has been carrying, and she will help you decide what to offer it.

How do I get in touch?

But rarely do we speak about the art of grieving—as if grief is something to endure rather than something we can engage with consciously, creatively, and with care.

Grief is one of the most human experiences we have. It reveals the depth of our love, our attachments, and the meaning we find in connection. Yet, in our fast-paced culture, we’re often urged to move on, to “be strong,” to get back to life as if grief isn’t part of living.

But it is.

The art of grieving invites us to relate to our loss with presence and intention. It means allowing the ache of separation while also remembering the beauty of what was shared. It asks us to be in the moment with our thoughts—because our feelings arise from those thoughts—and to notice how those feelings shape our experience of grief.

To grieve with artistry is to feel the pain without becoming it. It’s learning to breathe through sorrow, to make space for it, to honor it as sacred—not as a mistake or a detour, but as part of the soul’s path.

At Corrales Grief Spa, we offer gentle, creative ways to support this process. We believe grief is not just emotional—it’s physical, spiritual, and energetic. That’s why we offer a range of expressive and healing arts to help people move through grief, not around it.

You’ll find tools like the finger labyrinth, which engages quiet contemplation through mindful tracing. Our sandtray therapy lets the unconscious speak in symbols. Through expressive arts, individuals can paint, write, sculpt, or move their emotions into form—giving grief a place to land outside the body.

Guided visual imagery helps soothe the nervous system and bring clarity to tangled emotions. Reiki, yoga, breathwork, and meditation allow for somatic release, calm, and reconnection. Even our plant-based nourishment is part of the healing process, reminding the body that it is still worthy of care, even in sorrow.

The art of grieving is about embracing both the darkness and the light. It doesn’t mean bypassing pain—it means making space for healing. It is the act of living through grief, not despite it.

There is no one way to grieve. But when we engage it intentionally—with creativity, ritual, and compassion—it becomes less of a burden and more of a process. One that can, over time, bring transformation.

If you are grieving—whether the loss of a person, a pet, a role, or a part of yourself—you are not alone. At Corrales Grief Spa, we are here to walk with you. Not to fix, not to rush, but to help you discover your way through the sacred, complex, and very human art of grieving.

What would life be like if we lived more in the present moment—with more authenticity and the constant awareness that each kiss, hug, and word with our loved ones could be our last? How would our priorities shift? How would our relationships transform? These are the kinds of questions that stir the soul, and in a recent episode of The Hippie Moms Podcast, we dove deep into them with the incredible Kristy LaMariana.

Kristy is one of those rare individuals who carries a peaceful wisdom the moment she enters a space. We connected immediately, and it was clear that our meeting was no coincidence—it felt like fate. Her presence is both grounding and expansive, a reflection of the deep inner work she’s done throughout her life and career. With over 30 years of experience in the healing arts, Kristy brings a wealth of knowledge and a powerful, intuitive energy to her work.

She holds a Master of Science in Art Psychotherapy and is a Reiki Master in both Shamanic and Angelic lineages. In addition, she is a certified Ericksonian Clinical Hypnotherapist, a long time yoga teacher and a trained Past Life Regressionist. Her journey has been guided and enriched by some of the leading minds in spiritual and metaphysical studies—most notably, Dr. Raymond Moody, the pioneer of near-death experience research, who mentored Kristy privately. His influence is apparent in the way she speaks about death—not as something to be feared, but as a doorway into greater understanding and presence.

In our conversation, Kristy shared her insights on how we, especially as mothers and caregivers, can live with deeper intention and a stronger connection to the sacredness of life. She emphasizes the importance of slowing down and cultivating awareness—becoming more present not only with others, but within ourselves. Her words are a gentle reminder that our time here is finite, and that embracing our impermanence can actually enrich our lives, making each moment more meaningful.

We explored what might exist beyond the veil of death and how this awareness can transform how we show up in the world. When we live with the knowing that our time is limited, we become more aligned with our true values. We let go of what doesn’t serve us, and we begin to prioritize love, connection, and truth. This shift in perspective can be profoundly healing—not just for ourselves, but for our families and communities.

This episode is an invitation to reconnect—to your soul, your purpose, and the people you hold dear. It’s a call to live more fully, more presently, and more consciously. Kristy’s wisdom is a guiding light for anyone ready to step into a deeper, more soulful way of being.

Listen in, and allow yourself to be inspired to live each day as the sacred gift that it truly is.
